Artists Profile - Loving Someone Analysis





An Indie audience member would be able to relate to the song as it covers topics such as love and the reality of being 'famous'. Mainstream artists would not cover such content due to it not being something that wouldn't appeal to their target audience. However, due to the Indie genre being 'out of the norms' the focus on topics that is something not normally discussed it is conventional and would appeal to their audience. The personal lyrics also allows The 1975's audience to feel more connected to the artists and feel more personally attached to the band members and their experiences.
A usual Indie audience member would listen to The 1975's music in order to escape and think about other situations that is not taking place in their own lives. This allows them to have a sense of escapism, this therefore links the uses and gratification theory to the audience. They are also able to feel as if they are not alone as they stereotypically categorise themselves within the 'strugglers' demographic. Therefore, meaning they would find comfort through seeking advice and relating to the band.
